Biography

Dr Andrew McQuillan completed his medical training at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1992, graduating with degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. 

Andrew trained as a Clinical Haematologist and Consultant Physician at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the Australian Red Cross then undertook fellowship training in Allogenic Bone Marrow Transplantation at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.  

He was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) in 2003. 

In addition to his private practice at Hollywood Private Hospital, Dr McQuillan is a pathologist at Western Diagnostic Pathology.

The majority of Dr McQuillan’s work is in the area of haemato-oncology including lymphoma, leukaemia, multiple myeloma. He also deals with other general haematology including clotting and bleeding, iron related disorders and transfusion services. 

Andrew is a senior clinical examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and has an interest in medical education, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates. He is a visiting lecturer at Notre Dame University and Curtin University. 

Andrew has a particular interest in malignant haematology and has experience as a principal investigator and co-investigator in clinical trials. He has a number of publications, particularly in radioimmunotherapy for the treatment of low-grade lymphoma. He has presented at national and international meetings and served on several advisory boards.
